[Welcome to BEEMNET!]

BEEMNET, the Brain Exchange Electronic Mentorship Network, is a research oriented, educational organization that connects elementary school children and their teachers with research neuroscientists (scientists who study the brain and nervous system). BEEMNET is currently engaged in an exciting project called the "Kids Judge! Neuroscience Fairs Partnership." It's a project funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse to help scientists, teachers, and parents in their efforts to help children learn about how our brain and nervous system function.

BEEMNET also supports the efforts of neuroscientist organizations involved in mentoring children, scientist colleagues, and other adults by hosting the following web sites:

Many people actively visit the original BEEMNET site even though it was published IN 1996 during the VERY first BRAIN AWARENESS WEEK - a LONG time ago (especially in web years!). Therefore, the public portion of the BEEMNET Legacy Site is still available for your enjoyment and education. (Please note that none of the forms on the "legacy" site are being processed - so don't fill them out!).

Have some fun finding out what kids think about neuroscientists and visit the Galaxy Gallery Pics of the Week Archives.  Enjoy a virtual coffee break and read some stories that kids have written about a day in the life of a neuroscientist. (Hint: click on the donuts and coffee cups.)

For more information about BEEMNET please send E-mail to colbern@beemnet.com.
